According to Oneida County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Derrick O'Meara, Director of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, a 17 year old male was arrested in the City of Rome on October 11, 2019 and charged with Sexual Misconduct and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, both Class A Misdemeanors. The male was arrested by Oneida County Sheriff's Office Sergeant M. Bolton and Rome P.D. Detective S. Rood, both of whom are assigned to the CAC. The charges stem from an investigation where it was found that the male engaged in sexual contact with a 13 year old female child in the City of Rome, in September 2019. Due to the male's age, his name is not being released. The male was arraigned in Rome City Court where he was released and he is scheduled to appear at a future date. An order of protection was issued by the court on behalf of the Victim. The Victim has been offered services through the CAC.
