According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol, a Oneida woman was injured in a motor vehicle accident in the Town of Verona. On October 15, 2019 at about 9:01 AM, Maureen Fahey, age 60, of Oneida NY, was operating her 2013 Hyundai West on Beacon Light Road in the Town of Verona, when she was forced off the roadway by a 2005 Ford operated by Charles Abel age 17. Investigation showed that Abel stopped at the stop sign at Stoney Brook Road and Beacon Light Road and then proceeded to cross the intersection causing Fahey to swerve to avoid a collision. Fahey's vehicle then left the roadway and struck a house on the corner of the intersection. The house sustained very minor damage, Fahey was treated on scene by members of the Verona Fire Department, and was transported to Oneida Hospital by Vineall Ambulance for neck and back pain. Abel was not injured and was issued a traffic summons for failure to yield to right of way after stopping at a stop sign. Ticket returnable to Verona Town court.
