According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol:

On November 5th 2019 at 7:34 A.M. Deputies responded to the intersection of Soule Road and State Route 365 in the Town of Floyd for a reported motor vehicle accident with unknown injuries. An investigation revealed that Corina Howland (51) of Forestport, was operating a 2012 Volkswagon southbound on Soule Road when she failed to stop at the posted stop sign at St. Rt. 365 due to brake failure. Howland continued through the intersection, causing A. Westhall-Mittiga (42) of Trenton, operating a 2016 Toyota Highlander, to apply her brakes to avoid a collision. Howland's vehicle was not struck as the vehicle came to rest on the northern shoulder of the roadway.

Sarah Richards (45) of Floyd was operating a 2009 Hyundai Sante Fe directly behind Westhall-Mittiga when Richards applied her brakes but ultimately rear ended Westhall-Mittaiga. Wendy Calabrese (54) of Barneveld was operating a 2017 Nissan Rogue directly behind Richards. Calabrese attempted to avoid the collison but was unsuccessful and ultimately rear ended Richards.

Both Richards and Calabrese were transported by AmCare Ambulance to Rome Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained in the accident.

Deputies were assisted on scene by Floyd Fire Department.

Howland, Richards and Calabrese were issued summons related to the accident and are to return to Floyd Town Court at a later date and time.
