According to Sheriff R. Maciol, a Rome woman sustained minor injuries in a car-building accident on Pinnacle Rd in Sauquoit.

As reported and investigated by Dep. Brian Warcup, a 2015 Toyota Prius being operated by Barbara Riley, 71, of Rome struck the side of Grande’s Pizzeria on Pinnacle Rd in Sauquoit. Riley stated she had just backed out of a parking spot and put the car in drive when it suddenly lunged forward and side swiped the wall of the pizzeria. The car continued for a short distance before Riley was able to stop the car. The building sustained minor exterior damage. Also in the car was Elizabeth Toombs, 95 of Rome and Joanna Premo, 49 also of Rome. Premo was evaluated by Sauquoit Fire EMT’s for minor back pain and refused transport to the hospital. Riley and Toombs were uninjured. All occupants were utilizing proper restraints at the time of the crash. Assisting at the scene was Sauquoit Fire Dept. and Edwards Ambulance.
