Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol reminds anyone interested in a career with the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office that there is still time to sign up to take an entrance exam for the position of Correction Officer in the Corrections Division at the Sheriff’s Office.

Those interested in becoming a Correction Officer have until the end of business on this Friday, December 13th, 2019 to apply to take the exam and the exam will be given on February 1st, 2020. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age on or before the date of appointment, they must possess a high school diploma or equivalency, and be a resident of Oneida, Herkimer, Lewis, Madison, Oswego, or Otsego counties. The starting salary for a Correction Officer is $35,332 and advances to $41,567 after successful completion of the Basic Corrections Academy or after successfully completing six months of employment in the bargaining unit.

Attached is the link for the civil service exam announcement and to apply, a completed application is required to be submitted along with a money order payable to Oneida County in the amount of $25.00 by the end of business on December 13th.
