According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol, on Monday, December 23rd, 2019 at approximately 4:30 pm, Deputies responded to the intersection of State Route 365 and Greenway New London Road in the City of Rome for a reported two car personal injury motor vehicle accident. Investigation into the accident determined that Debra A. Maron, age 61, of Rome, was operating her 2015 Mazda Sedan west on State Route 365 with her husband Michael B. Maron, age 52, and was attempting to slow down in the roadway due to the glare of the sun, when a 2007 Chevy Suburban being operated by Patience C. Seitz, age 44, of Canastota, struck the back of her vehicle. Maron's vehicle drove off the western shoulder of Greenway New London Road and struck a utility pole. Both Debra and Michael were evaluated on scene by members of the Rome Fire Department and AMCARE Ambulance. Both Debra and Michael were transported by AMCARE Ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital for evaluation of head and leg injuries.

Seitz was issued a citation for an unregistered motor vehicle which is returnable to Rome City Court at a later date.

Deputies were assisted on scene by the New York State Police, AMCARE Ambulance, and the Rome Fire Department.
