According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol, 1 person was sent to the hospital following a 1 car motor vehicle accident in the Town of Vernon.

On January 24th, 2020 at approximately 12:28 am, 1 person was sent to the hospital for evaluation of minor injuries after the vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole. The accident occurred when a 2017 Jeep Renegade, operated by Danielle G. Sheldon, age 25, of Norwich, drove off the roadway, striking a utility pole. Upon the deputy's investigation into the accident, it was determined that Sheldon was intoxicated. Sheldon was then transported to an area hospital for evaluation of minor injuries.

Sheldon was issued a citation for moving from lane unsafely and Driving While Intoxicated, returnable to Vernon Town Court at a later date.

Assisting on scene were members of the Oneida Castle Volunteer Fire Department and Vineall Ambulance.
