According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol; On January 24, 2020 at about 0640 AM, Deputies responded to State Route 365 for a reported two car motor vehicle accident, which was found to have occurred in the Village of Oneida Castle.

Upon arrival, Deputies determined that William Jones (24), of Oneida, NY, was operating a black 2019 Subaru Crosstrek eastbound on Route 365. Due to driver distraction, Jones failed to keep right crossing into the westbound lane of traffic striking a 2007 “Simchik Trash Hauling” Peterbilt garbage truck operated by Rick Seifert (56), of Durhamville, NY in the driver side of the vehicle causing heavy damage to both. Jones vehicle became disabled in the middle of the roadway causing Route 365 to be shut down temporarily from Sconondoa Rd to Prospect St. All parties involved were evaluated on scene with no reported injuries. Jones was issued a citation for Failure to Keep Right returnable to Town of Vernon court at a later date.

As of 800 AM, both lanes of Route 365 have been re-opened to traffic.
