According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on January 26, 2020 the Oneida County Sheriff's Office investigated a personal injury motor vehicle accident on North Steuben Rd. in the Town of Steuben.

At about 10:20 AM, Sheriff's Office Deputies responded to North Steuben Rd. for a single car roll over accident. When the Deputies arrived on scene, Deputies located a 2014 Subaru Forrester rolled onto its side in a ditch off the west shoulder of the roadway. The driver of the vehicle, Candace Bombard, age 67, from Holland Patent, NY was still trapped in the vehicle and the Western Volunteer Fire Department was attempting to remove her from her vehicle. Once Bombard was removed from her vehicle, she was treated by members from the Fire Department and STaR Ambulance for pain, contusions to the left side of her body and head injuries. Bombard had lost consciousness as a result of the accident, but regained consciousness on scene and was transported to Rome Memorial Hospital by STaR Ambulance for treatment. The Sheriff's Office attributed the roads snow and ice covered surface as the cause of the accident. No tickets were issued.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by members from the Western Volunteer Fire Department and STaR Ambulance.
