According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol on Monday, January 27 at approximately 04:57 pm there was a 911 call for a logging accident that occurred on Evans Road in the Town of Steuben. It was reported that a male was struck in the head with a tree that he had cut down. Road patrol deputies responded approximately a half mile into a wooded area on foot and located the male. The male was treated on scene by members of Road Patrol, the New York State Police, Remsen Fire, Barneveld Fire, and Star Ambulance. The Barneveld Fire Department was able to utilize their UTV to transport the male out of the wooded area and to an ambulance where he was sent to a local hospital for treatment. No names will be released at this time. An updated news release will follow.
