According to Sheriff Rob Maciol, several Waterville Elementary Students received minor injuries when their bus was struck by a vehicle in the Village of Waterville.

On Friday January 31st, 2020 at about 07:46 A.M. , a Waterville Central School District bus was struck on Elmwood Ave in the Village of Waterville. The bus operated by Wayne Wherle, was traveling northbound on Elmwood Ave in the Village when a 2005 Honda Civic being operated by Joseph O'Brien of Elmwood Ave, backed out of his driveway and struck the passenger side rear dual wheels of the bus. The bus was carrying twenty five elementary students at the time of the accident. Once the students arrived at the school, they were all evaluated by the school nurse. Five of the students complained of forehead and body pain from being jostled in their seats and hitting the seat in front of them. No other injuries were reported as a result of this accident. O'Brien was issued a citation for unsafe backing and is due to appear at Village of Waterville Court at a later date.

Sheriff's Deputies were assisted on scene by Waterville Fire Department.
