According to Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Derrick O'Meara, who is also the Director of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, a Rome youth has been arrested for having sexual contact with an under-aged female child.

Sheriff’s Investigator Mark R. Chrysler was assigned the case in December of 2019. Through his investigation, it was learned that a 17-year-old male had sexual contact with a 14-year-old female child on several occasions while in the City of Rome.

On March 3, 2020, Investigator Chrysler arrested the 17 year old and charged him with one count of Sexual Misconduct, a class A Misdemeanor.

The male, whose name is being withheld due to his age, is scheduled to appear at Juvenile Probation in late March.

An Order of Protection has been requested on behalf of the victim, who is receiving counseling services through the Child Advocacy Center.
