According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol, 2 were injured following a motor vehicle accident on Rome-New London Road in the Town of Verona.

At approximately 1050 am on March 7, 2020, Gene Parody, 45 of Canastota was operating a 2005 GMC Pick-up truck pulling an empty single car trailer when the trailer became unhitched from his truck, due to the hitch not being secured properly. The trailer drifted into oncoming traffic and was struck by a 2019 Chevy Equinox operated by Danny Hartzog, 55 of Rome. Both Danny Hartzog and a passenger in his vehicle, Brenda Hartzog, 47 also of Rome, were transported to Rome Memorial Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.

Parody was issued a traffic ticket returnable to the Town of Verona Court at a later date.
