According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on 4/18/20, at about 10:30am, deputies responded to Walmart located at 5815 Rome Taberg Rd, City of Rome for a domestic in progress. On scene deputies determined that Omar Baez, 41, of Lee Center NY, forcibly attempted to pull his 3 year old child away from the child's mother while standing in front of the store during a custody dispute. Deputies arrested Baez for Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A misdemeanor.

Baez was transported to the Oneida County Correctional Facility where he will be arraigned on said charge.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the New York State Police.
