According to Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Derrick O’Meara, Director of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, a 14 year old juvenile male from Yorkville was referred to Oneida County Juvenile Probation for engaging in inappropriate sexual contact with a 13 year old male. Rome Police Detective Alex Sypniewski, assigned to the Child Advocacy Center, conducted the investigation into the matter, and determined that the acts, initiated by the 14 year old, occurred over the course of the past two years. Detective Sypniewski began the investigation on April 17, 2020. The acts committed by the 14 year old would constitute the charge of Sexual Misconduct, if committed by an adult. The victim has been offered counseling services through the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center.
