According to Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Derrick O’Meara, Director of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, a City of Oswego man was arrested for engaging in an inappropriate online relationship with a 15 year old female. An investigation revealed that Evan Nelson, 24, of the City of Oswego posed as a 17 year old male while briefly engaging in an online relationship with a female from the Village of Camden, whom he knew to be 15 years old. During the course of the relationship Nelson solicited photos and videos of a sexual nature from the victim. On 04/22/20 Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Investigator’s Ryan Marshall and Mark Chrysler, both assigned to the Child Advocacy Center, arrested Nelson for Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A Misdemeanor. Nelson was released with an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Camden Court on a later date. An order of protection has been requested on behalf of the victim. The victim has been offered counseling services through the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center.
