According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on April 28, 2020 at about 7:40 PM Deputies responded to 7989 W. Thomas St in the City of Rome to assist the Rome Fire Department with an attempt to locate two females that had become lost on a walking trail. While on scene the Rome Fire Department requested the Sheriff’s Office ATV and Drone units respond to assist. The Sheriff's Office Recreational Vehicle Enforcement Unit and Drone Unit were notified of the incident. Prior to their arrival on scene, Elyse Douglas-Fee age 61 of New Hartford and Barbara Paquette age 64 of Utica were located on the trail by the Rome Fire Department. Both parties were uninjured and were escorted off the trail by the Rome Fire Department.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by the Rome Fire Department, NYSP and NYS ENCON Officers.
