According to Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Derrick O'Meara, who is the Director of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, a Boonville man has been arrested after having inappropriate sexual contact with a female child.

Sheriff’s Investigator Mark R. Chrysler, who is assigned to the Child Advocacy Center, was assigned the case and during the investigation, it was found that Michael Winters, age 33, had sexual contact with a 15-year-old female child over the winter of 2019-2020 while in the Village of Boonville.

On May 14, 2020, Investigator Chrysler and Sheriff’s Investigator Ryan Marshall located Winters at his home where he was taken in to custody without incident.

Winters was transported to the Sheriff’s Office where he was processed and charged with one count of Sexual Abuse in the 3rdDegree and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, both of which are Misdemeanors. After processing, Winters was taken to the Oneida County Correctional Facility where he was to await his arraignment.

An Order of Protection has been issued on behalf of the child and services have been offered through the Child Advocacy Center.
