According to Oneida County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Derrick O'Meara, Director of the Child Advocacy Center, a Utica man was arrested by members of the Child Advocacy Center today, May 20, 2020 for having sexual contact with a female child. Warren Abel, age 24, was arrested by OCSO Sergeant M. Bolton and OCSO Investigator Mark Chrysler, for one count of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, a Class D Felony. The arrest stems from an investigation commenced on April 4, 2020 where it was reported to the Utica Police Department, that Abel subjected a 10 year old female child to sexual contact on that date, while in the City of Utica. The investigation was then turned over to the Child Advocacy for further investigation. Abel was held at the Utica Police Department pending arraignment where an order of protection will be requested through the court on behalf of the victim. The victim has been offered services through the Child Advocacy Center.
