According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on Wednesday June 10, 2020 at about 05:17 pm the Sheriff's Office Road Patrol responded to a medical call for a male that had fallen approximately 20 feet off of a ladder. Douglas Krueger, 67, of Oneida was working in a hay barn at the Richardson Farm located at 5969 Skinner Road in the Town of Vernon when he fell approximately 20 feet off the ground from a ladder he was standing on. During the investigation it was determined that the stack of hay gave out and pushed the ladder out from under Krueger causing Krueger and the ladder to fall to the ground. Krueger was air lifted to Upstate Hospital with serious injuries. The investigation appears to be accidental in nature. The Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by the Sheriff's Office ID Unit along with the Criminal Investigation Unit, Vernon Center Fire, Vineall Ambulance, and Mercy Flight.
