​​According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on June 11th, 2020, at approximately 11:57 A.M., Deputies responded to the intersection of State Route 365 and Patrick Road, in the Town of Verona, for a report of a personal injury motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival to the scene, Deputies determined that, William Leach (81YO) of Rome NY, was traveling in an Easterly direction on State Route 365. While Leach was traveling Easterly on 365, Leach failed to stop for a red light at the intersection of State Route 365 and Patrick Road. When Leach proceeded through the red light, he collided with Krista Seelman(25YO) of Forestport NY, who was attempting to make a left turn in a Westerly direction on State Route 365. Subsequently, once the collision occurred, Leach proceeded to collide with a trailer being pulled by Timothy Connaughton(55YO) of Massachusetts. Seelman sustained superficial injuries resulting from the seatbelt of her vehicle. Leach sustained superficial injuries resulting from the airbag deployment inside of the vehicle. The vehicles were removed from the roadway with no further incident. Seelman was transported by Vineall Ambulance Company to Oneida City Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Leach signed off on scene for his injuries. Leach was issued a traffic summons returnable to Verona Town Court at a later date, for violation of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law Section 1111 subsection D1, failing to stop for a red light. The Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by Oneida Nation Police, Verona Fire Department, and Vineall Ambulance Company.
