According to Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Derrick O'Meara, the Director of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, a Town of Vernon woman has been arrested for Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

In late May of 2020 the Child Advocacy Center received information that an 11 year old female child was having an ongoing conversation of a romantic and sexual nature with a 38 year old male on Facebook Messenger. An investigation into the relationship between the two commenced at that time.

At the onset of the investigation, 41 year old Marsha Archer, was made aware of the relationship between the child and the adult male. Archer was informed that an investigation was being conducted and she was instructed to keep the child away from the male.

On Friday June 5, 2020 information was received that Archer had brought the child to the residence of the male and allowed the child to remain in his presence. Archer and the child were subsequently located by investigators in the City of Rome at the male’s residence.

On Monday June 15, 2020 Investigators Nicholas Dean and Ryan Marshall arrested Archer at the residence of the male, the child was not with her. Archer was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A Misdemeanor, and she was issued an appearance ticket to appear in the City of Rome Court at a later date.

Services are being offered to the child by Oneida County Child Protective Services and the Child Advocacy Center.
