An inmate at the Oneida County Correctional Facility has been charged for violating an order of protection. According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on July 6th deputies took a report that an inmate had made contact with a person who had an order of protection against him. Investigators found that Michael McClendon 40 of Rome was in the correctional facility for violating the order of protection. While in the facility he sent mail to the protected party, again violating the order. McClendon was charged by investigators with criminal contempt in the first degree, a class E felony. He was arraigned in centralized arraignment court and is being held at the jail. He will return to court at a later date.
