According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on August 12, 2020 at approximately 6:42 P.M.Sheriff's Deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident with physical injuries on Beacon Light Road at the intersection of Stoney Brook Road in the Town of Verona.

Deputies determined that Jonathan Hudson, age 26 of Verona, NY was operating a 2014 Ford Fusion on Beacon Light Road following a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox operated by Valerie Ritenour, age 31 of Verona, NY. Valerie was attempting to turn left onto Stoney Brook Road when Jonathon rear ended her vehicle due to following too closely. During the investigation it was determined that Jonathan was impaired by alcohol. Jonathan was arrested, issued traffic tickets for DWI and following too closely and is to appear at a later date in the Town of Verona Court. Both Jonathan and Valerie were transported to area hospitals for minor injuries.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted by Verona Fire Department, Vineall Ambulance, Central Oneida County Ambulance, New York State Police, and Vernon Police Department while on scene.
