According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol, 1 person was sent to the hospital following a 1 car motor vehicle accident in the City of Rome.

On September 2, 2020 at approximately 9:15 pm, 1 person was sent to the hospital for evaluation of minor injuries after the vehicle left the roadway and struck a ditch embankment. The accident occurred when a 2007 Black Jeep Liberty, operated by Marqueta Armstrong, of Rome, was traveling at an unsafe speed and drove off the roadway, striking a ditch embankment causing the vehicle to overturn on it's side. Armstrong was transported to an area hospital for evaluation of minor injuries.

It was later determined that alcohol was a factor in this accident. No citations issued at this time due to the incident still being investigated.

Assisting on scene were members of the New York State Police, Amcare Ambulance, and the Rome Fire Department.
