According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on September 24, 2020 at about 5:00 pm, Deputies responded to the area of Route 26 and Gifford Hill Road in the Town of Augusta for a motor vehicle accident involving a horse and buggy.

Investigation determined that Nancy Swan, 69, of Oneida, NY was operating a gray 2009 Hyundai northerly on Route 26 when she struck the rear of horse drawn buggy which was also traveling in a northerly direction on Route 26. The buggy was operated by Raymond Shetler, 28, of Augusta, NY, who suffered minor injuries and was transported by Central Oneida County Ambulance to St. Elizabeth's Hospital for further evaluation.

Swan was ticketed for speed not reasonable and prudent and is to appear in Augusta Town Court at a later date.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by the New York State Police, the Oriskany Falls Fire Department and Central Oneida County Ambulance.
