According to Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Derrick O’Meara, Director of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, a 21 year old Rome man, Trevon Watkins, was arrested in the City of Rome on a warrant issued by the Oneida County Court for the charge of Rape 2nd degree, (a D Felony). Watkins’ arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Ryan Marshall, who is assigned to the Child Advocacy Center. The investigation revealed that in June 2020, Watkins engaged in sexual contact with a 13-year-old female while in the Town of Lee. On 10/02/2020 members of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Unit and NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Watkins in the City of Rome. Watkins was arraigned in Oneida County Court and was remanded to the Oneida County Correctional Facility with no bail. An Order of Protection on behalf of the victim was issued by the Court. The victim has been offered counseling services through the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center.
