Update MVA-Fatal Peterboro Rd T/Vernon

The driver of this vehicle was identified as Jacob G. Van Ormer (31 YO) from Oriskany Falls.

MVA-Fatal Peterboro Rd T/Vernon

According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol; On October 2, 2020 at about 10:04 AM, Deputies responded to Peterboro Rd in the Town of Vernon for a reported one car unknown injury motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, Deputies determined that the driver of the vehicle was operating a grey Chevy 2500 on Peterboro Rd Northeast. The vehicle exited the northern shoulder of the roadway and traveled into the ditch before striking a tree with the front end of the pick-up. The vehicle was reported to have rolled over one time before coming to rest partially in the roadway facing Northwest. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased on scene. The name of the deceased is being withheld awaiting notification of next of kin.

The section of Peterboro road has been re-opened at this time.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office were assisted on scene by the Vernon Fire Department, Vineall Ambulance, and New York State Police.
