According to Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Derrick O'Meara, who is the Director of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, a Town of Westmoreland man has been arrested for having sexual contact with a child.

In late September 2020 OCSO Inv. Nicholas Dean, who is assigned to the CAC, began an investigation into a report of an adult male having sexual contact with a female child. The investigation revealed that Michael Archer, age 39, subjected a female child under the age of 17 to sexual contact.

On Friday October 16, 2020 Archer was arrested by OCSO Inv. Mark Chrysler who is also assigned to the CAC. Archer was charged with one count of Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree a Class B Misdemeanor and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child a Class A Misdemeanor. Archer was arraigned in the Oneida County Centralized Arraignment Court and was released on his own recognizance.

An order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim and services are being offered to the victim by the Child Advocacy Center.
