According to Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Derrick O'Meara, who is the Director of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, a Clinton man has been arrested for having sexual contact with an underage female child.

The investigation began in August of 2019, when the Utica Police Department responded to an address in the City of Utica for a reported sexual abuse complaint. The case was then turned over to the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center. Sheriff’s Investigator Mark R. Chrysler was assigned to the case.

The investigation revealed that Edwin Irizarry, age 41, had sexual contact with a 7-year-old female child.

On October 21, 2020, Investigator Chrysler and Utica Police Investigator Titus Ciccone, located Irizarry in the Town of Kirkland where he was arrested, without incident, on one count of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, a class D. Felony.

Irizarry was transported to the Utica Police Department where he was processed and held for arraignment.

An Order of Protection has been requested on behalf of the child and services have been offered through the Child Advocacy Center.
