According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, the Oneida County Sheriff's Office is investigating a one car motor vehicle accident on Culver Ave. in the City of Utica.

On November 5, 2020 at about 11:46 PM, a Deputy from the Sheriff's Office DWI Unit attempted to stop a 2007 white Ford Focus on Tilden Ave. in the City of Utica for multiple vehicle and traffic violations. Just after the Deputy activated his emergency lights, the Ford Focus slowed, started to pull over and then sped off. The Deputy turned off his emergency lights and did not pursue the vehicle. A short time later the Deputy came across the same vehicle which had drove through a fence off of Culver Ave. and into a field in Proctor Park. The vehicle was stuck in the field and the occupants of the vehicle had fled the scene.

Johnston's Auto responded to the scene to remove the vehicle. A vehicle inventory search was conducted and property was removed from the vehicle. The vehicle had a switched plate on it and was not reported stolen. A search of the VIN for the vehicle did not indicate a current owner.

If anyone has any information on the vehicle and/or the occupants of the vehicle, contact the Sheriff's Office at (315) 736-0141 or the Deputy at (315) 765-2764.
