According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Derrick O'Meara, who is the Director of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, a Utica man has been arrested for having sexual contact with an underage female child.

The investigation began on November 2, 2020, when the Utica Police Department responded to a sexual abuse complaint. The case was later turned over to the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center where it was assigned to Sheriff’s Investigator Mark R. Chrysler.

The investigation revealed that during the overnight hours of October 31, 2020 and November 1, 2020, a 19-year-old male had sexual contact with a 15 year-old female child who was incapacitated due to be unconscious when the sexual contact was initiated.

On December 15, 2020, Investigator Mark Chrysler and Utica Police Investigator Titus Ciccone located the 19-year-old male at his home in the City of Utica where he was arrested without incident. He was charged with one count of Rape in the First Degree, a class B Felony.

The 19-year-old male was transported to the Utica Police Department where he was processed and arraigned in Utica City Court. He was remanded to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail/Bond.

An Order of Protection has been requested on behalf of the child and services have been offered to the victim through the Child Advocacy Center.

The name of the 19 year old male is not being released due to his status as a potential Youthful Offender.
