According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, On Friday, January 01, 2021, at about 12:15 AM, Deputies initiated a traffic stop on Route 5 in the Town of Westmoreland. Upon further investigation, deputies determined the operator of the vehicle, Chandra B. Sarki, age 37 of Utica, was found to be driving while intoxicated with two young children unrestrained inside the vehicle. CPS was contacted and responded to the scene to take temporary custody of the children. Sarki was transported to the Sheriff's Office Law Enforcement Building where he was processed and booked into the Oneida County Correctional Facility on felony DWI and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Sarki was also issued additional tickets relating to the NYS vehicle and traffic law, and will be arraigned before a judge at a later time.
