According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, a Williamstown man was injured following a single motor vehicle accident, on Florence Hill Road, in the Town of Florence.

At about 1:29 am, on 1/16/2021, a patrol deputy was dispatched to the area of Metott Road and Florence Hill Road in the Town of Florence, for a personal injury motor vehicle accident.

While on scene, it was determined that, William M. Mickalenko, 21 of Williamstown, was traveling in an Easterly direction on Metott Road. As Mickalenko approached the intersection of Metott Road and Florence Hill Road, during the course of investigation, Mickalenko failed to stop at the stop sign, as he went through the intersection before coming to a rest in a ditch just off of the Eastern shoulder of Florence Hill Rd, striking a tree.

Mickalenko was then transported by the Town of Camden Ambulance to St. Elizabeth's Hospital for injuries he sustained during the motor vehicle accident.

A Deputy assigned to the Stop DWI Unit responded to the hospital to conduct a DWI investigation. While at the hospital, the Deputy subsequently arrested Mickalenko for DWI.

Due to Mickalenko being treated for his injuries at the hospital, a follow up will be conducted at a later time.

The Oneida County Sheriffs Office was assisted by the Town of Florence Fire Department and Town of Camden Ambulance.
