According to Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Derrick O’Meara, Director of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, a Utica man was arrested for having sexual contact with a 16 year old female child. On February 17, 2021, Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Ryan Marshall and Utica Police Investigator Titus Ciccone, both assigned to the Child Advocacy Center, arrested 25 year old Michael Castro for the charges of Rape 3rd degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The charges stem from incidents that occurred in the City of Utica in January 2021. Castro was arraigned in Utica City Court where he was remanded to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail. An order of protection was requested on behalf of the victim. The victim has been offered counseling services through the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center.
