According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, 5 people were sent to the hospital following a Motor Vehicle Accident on Thomas Rd in the Town of Lee.

On February 26th, 2021 at approximately 12:21 PM, Richard McCarthy (76) of Rome NY, was operating a 2012 Ford Escape in a Norther direction when he attempted to make a left hand turn into a nearby driveway. As Richard attempted to make a left turn, he failed to yield the right of way to a 2019 Ford Fusion being operating by Christopher Hildenbrandt, (40) of Rome who was traveling in a Southern direction which resulted in major damage to both vehicles. Richard and his passenger, Cynthia McCarthy (74), were transported to Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital to be treated for their injuries. Christopher and his passengers, whose names will not be released due to their age, were transported to Rome Memorial Hospital to be treated for their injuries. Richard was issued a traffic summons for failure to yield right of way which is returnable to Lee Town Court at a later date.
