Update to house fire on Benton Road in the Town of Marcy…

Update to house fire on Benton Road in the Town of Marcy which occurred on February 26, 2021.

According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, at the time of the fire, two occupants were inside the residence and they were both able to make it outside prior to emergency personnel arriving on scene. One of the occupants was not injured while the other was air lifted to SUNY Upstate Hospital with critical injuries. At this time, the investigation is ongoing in an attempt to determine the cause of the fire and additional information will be released when available. The identity of the victim will be released at a later date. Benton Road has also been re-opened to normal traffic.
