SHERIFF MACIOL ISSUES REMINDER ABOUT UPCOMING CIVIL SERVICE EXAMS

Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol is announcing to anyone who may be interested in a career with the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, that there is still time to sign up to take an entrance exam for both Deputy Sheriff for the Road Patrol Division and for Correction Officer in the Corrections Division at the Sheriff’s Office.

Those interested in becoming a Deputy Sheriff have until the end of business on March 26th to apply to take the exam and the exam will be given on May15th, 2021. Applicants must be at least 19 years of age on or before the date of the exam, they must possess a high school diploma or equivalency, and be a resident of Oneida, Herkimer, Lewis, Madison, Oswego, or Otsego counties. The starting salary for a Deputy Sheriff is $41,235 and advances to $48,512 after successful completion of your initial required training.

Those interested in becoming a Correction Officer have until the end of business on April 16th, 2021 to apply to take the exam and the exam will be given on June 5th, 2021. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age on or before the date of appointment, they must possess a high school diploma or equivalency, and be a resident of Oneida, Herkimer, Lewis, Madison, Oswego, or Otsego counties. The starting salary for a Correction Officer is $35,862 and advances to $42,191 after successful completion of the Basic Corrections Academy or after successfully completing six months of employment in the bargaining unit.
