According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol, on 04/14/2021 at approximately 2:48 PM Oneida County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Teuscher Rd in the Town of Verona for an aircraft related injury. Upon arrival it was discovered that Henry Lafflair, 81 of Utica, NY attempted to hand prop his Cessna airplane to start the engine. In doing so, Lafflair was struck by the prop causing severe injury to his arm. Responding deputies applied a tourniquet to Lafflair and he was eventually transported by helicopter to Upstate University Hospital. Oneida County Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted at the scene by Vineall Ambulance and the Verona Fire Department. Lafflair’s injuries do not appear to be life threatening and the investigation is ongoing.
