After more than 30 years of dedicated and highly decorated service to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Lieutenant Robert Nelson has decided to retire. Bob joined the Sheriff’s Office in 1989 as a Correction Officer in the jail and then in 1990, he became a Deputy Sheriff in the Patrol Division. In 1993, he was promoted to Investigator and assigned to the Criminal Investigation Unit (CIU). In 2000, Bob was promoted to Sergeant in CIU and then in 2014, he was promoted to Lieutenant in CIU. Throughout his distinguished career, Lt. Nelson has received numerous and well deserved awards and accolades. He was also trained in numerous areas of law enforcement & investigations and also was a certified Hostage Negotiator.

On behalf of the members of the Sheriff’s Office, we thank Lt. Nelson for his service to the people of Oneida County, we congratulate him on his retirement, and we wish him well with all of his future endeavors.
