According to Oneida County Sheriff Rob Maciol, At Approximately 12:01 A.M. Monday morning, Sheriff's Deputies were called to a reported check the welfare, for an injured female looking for assistance from a residence located on California Road in the Town of Marshall. It was later determined the female was injured as the result of a motor vehicle accident.

Authorities say Serena Masner, 25, of Utica, was driving on California Road heading in an Easterly direction when Masner lost control of her 2013 Jeep Wrangler. Masner's vehicle went airborne after hitting a guiderail and impacted a telephone pole, at which time the vehicle overturned before coming to rest in a creek bed over an embankment.

Deputies report that Masner was impaired by alcohol at the time of the accident. Masner is being charged with DWI and was issued a traffic summons for leaving the lane of travel unsafely. Masner is scheduled to appear in the Town of Marshall Court at a later date. The investigating is ongoing at this time and further charges may be filed.

Masner was transported to St. Elizabeth's hospital for treatment of her injuries which are believed to be minor.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted on-scene by Central Oneida County Ambulance, Clinton Collision, and the Kirkland Police Department.
