A Rome man was arrested for being in possession of stolen property.

Around midnight on May 12th members of the Sheriff’s road patrol saw a man riding a bicycle and wearing a backpack on Turin Road in the vicinity of Potter Road. When the man saw deputies, he tried to evade them and when he couldn’t he threw the backpack into the woods. Deputies recovered the backpack and found that it contained stolen property. According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, Craig Bean 34 of Rome was taken into custody and charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the 4th degree, a class E felony. Bean was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Rome City Court at a later date.
