According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol; On May 14, 2021, at about 0912 AM, Deputies responded to the intersection of State Route 46 and Center St in the Town of Verona for a reported car-motorcycle personal injury motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, Deputies determined that Courtney Sanborn (25), of Munnsville, NY, was operating a gray 2018 Jeep Cherokee and was stopped at the stop sign on Center St at Route 46. Due to failure to yield the right of way and driver inattention, Sanborn attempted to make a left hand turn and crossed the northbound lane of traffic before being struck in the front driver side fender by a maroon 1983 Honda motorcycle traveling North operated by Robert Hartwell (35), of Oneida, NY. Hartwell was ejected off of the motorcycle striking the windshield of the Jeep, and both vehicles came to rest in the middle of the intersection. Hartwell was transported from the scene to Upstate Medical Center for a left wrist injury. The passenger on the motorcycle, Caleb Hartwell (9), of Oneida, NY, was also ejected off of the motorcycle and was transported from the scene to Upstate Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries. Sanborn was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign returnable to Town of Verona court at a later date.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by Durhamville Fire Department, Vineall Ambulance, and the New York State Police.
