According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol, on May 18th, 2021, at approximately 0803 hours, patrol Deputies were dispatched to the vicinity of State Route 365, and Lamphear Road, in the City of Rome, for a report of a personal injury motor vehicle accident, involving three motor vehicles.

At completion of the Deputies investigation into the accident on scene, it was determined that Joshua Walker (29 years of age), of Ellisville, Mississippi, whom was operating a grey in color, 2010 Chevy Silverado Pick-up truck, was traveling in an Easterly direction on State Route 365, approaching a changing traffic signal from a steady yellow signal to steady red signal, at the intersection of Lamphear Road, in the City of Rome. Walker attempted to stop his vehicle but was unable to stop his vehicles direction of travel prior to impacting the vehicles of, Derick Duranko (30 years of age), of Whitesboro New York, who was stopped at the steady red traffic signal, operating a blue in color, 2015 Suzuki sports bike, and Christine Wilson (41 years of age), of Verona New York, who was operating a black in color, 2008 Ford Escape, who was also stopped at the steady red signal.

Walker subsequently made contact with both vehicles, causing Duranko to be ejected from his vehicle and striking the windshield of Walker's vehicle. Wilson's vehicle was propelled forward in an Easterly direction through the intersection where it came to rest just past the intersection on the Southern shoulder of the roadway on State Route 365. Duranko was evaluated on scene by members of Rome Fire Department and AmCare Ambulance Company, for complaints of neck, back, and hip pain, and was ultimately transported to St. Elizabeth's Hospital by AmCare for non-life threatening injuries. Walker, and Wilson, were both evaluated on scene and did not require medical treatment.

Walker was issued three traffic summons returnable to Rome City Court at a later date.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by the City of Rome Fire Department, AmCare Ambulance Company, and New York State Police.
