Local Special Olympics Athlete Says Thank You to the Sheriff’s Office

Lauren Marraffa, a long time, local Special Olympics athlete and huge supporter of law enforcement stopped at the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office at noon today for a unique visit. In recognition of the recent National Police Week, their friendship, and for their annual support of the Special Olympics Torch Run, Lauren presented a thank you card and a full lunch buffet to Sheriff Robert Maciol and the members of the Sheriff’s Office. Today’s presentation was at the Public Safety Complex in Oriskany.

According to Lauren’s parents, she used her own money to buy lunch for the Sheriff’s Office because she, in her own words, considered those in law enforcement to be some of her “best friends ever.”
