According to Oneida County Sheriff's Office, Chief Deputy Derrick O'Meara, a Rome man was arrested on May 27, 2021 as the result of a Child Advocacy Center investigation. On May 27, 2021 upon receiving a report regarding a domestic incident that took place on May 23, 2021 an investigation was commenced by members of the CAC, consisting of both Law Enforcement and Child Protective Services. The investigation revealed that Jamez Williams, age 24, engaged in a physical domestic with an adult female at a residence in the City of Rome. During the incident, a child under the age of 17 intervened, in an attempt to assist the other party involved, when the child was then pushed by Williams, causing the child to fall to the ground. Williams was taken into custody at a residence in the City of Rome by OCSO Sgt. M. Bolton and OCSO Inv. Ryan Marshall and charged with one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A Misdemeanor. Williams was held at the Oneida County Correctional Facility to await arraignment in CAP Court. An order of protection has been requested on behalf of the child. The child will be offered services through the Child Advocacy Center.
