According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol; On June 8, 2021, at about 214 PM, Deputies responded to the intersection of Rome-Westmoreland Rd and Rome-Oriskany Rd in the City of Rome for a reported three car personal injury motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, Deputies determined that Thomas Chadwick (71), of Little Falls, NY, was operating a white 2019 Chevy pick-up truck East on Lamphear Rd approaching the intersection of Rome-Westmoreland Rd, and failed to stop for a steady red traffic signal. Chadwick’s vehicle entered the intersection before colliding with a black 2016 Chrysler van traveling North on Rome-Westmoreland Rd operated by Heather Miner (36), of Rome, NY in the front driver side with the front passenger side of his pick-up. Both vehicles continued into the westbound lane of traffic on Rome-Oriskany Rd striking a grey 1995 Subaru sedan operated by John Kessler (63) of Rome, NY that was stopped in the right turn lane for Martin St in the driver side doors.

Kessler was treated and released on scene for head pain. Miner was transported by AmCare Ambulance to St Luke’s Hospital for a complaint of leg and hand pain. The front seat passenger of Miner’s vehicle, Olivia Miner (8) of Rome, NY, and back seat passenger, Hunter Miner (4) of Rome, NY were not injured. Chadwick was issued a citation for failure to stop at a steady red traffic signal returnable to Rome City Court at a later date.
