According to Sheriff Robert Maciol, a Tennessee man received minor injuries when his tractor trailer went through a barn in the Village of Oriskany Falls.

As investigated and reported by Dep. B. Warcup, on June 24, 2021, at about 3:20 PM, Karl L. Whitehead, 38, of Memphis, TN, was traveling south on Rt 26 approaching the Village of Oriskany Falls. Whitehead stated as he started to descend the long hill coming into the village, he lost the brakes on his trailer, and his tractor brakes heated up quickly while trying to slow for the 90 degree left turn at the bottom of the hill. Whitehead lost control while trying to make the left turn causing the tractor trailer to roll over and plow through a large farm barn located at the intersection of Rt 26 and S Main St. Whitehead was able to get out of the wreckage on his own and was assisted by nearby citizens until Oriskany Falls Fire and EMS arrived. Whitehead received a minor facial cut and was treated on the scene by members of Oriskany Falls Fire and EMS as well as members from Central Oneida County ambulance and refused transport to the hospital. Whitehead was issued a summons for inadequate brakes returnable in the Town of Augusta Court at a later date.

Rt 26 and S Main St in the Village of Oriskany Falls is still shut down until further notice.
