According to the Oneida County Sheriff, Robert M. Maciol, on Friday, July 2, 2021, at approximately 1:20 am, Road Patrol Deputies responded to State Route 49 in the Town of Marcy for a reported personal injury car accident.

Upon arrival, Deputies determined that Emily Niznik, 21, of Deerfield, was operating a 2009 Honda sedan Eastbound on State Route 49 in the Town of Marcy, when she swerved to avoid an animal entering the roadway from the shoulder of the road. Niznik's vehicle struck the Jersey barrier in the median of State Route 49 and then rolled over, coming to rest in the passing lane of the roadway. Niznik was transported to St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by members of the Maynard Fire Department and Kunkel Ambulance.
