According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on 7-4-21 at about 720 pm. Oneida County Emergency Services received a report of a drowning on the north shore of Oneida Lake. During the response it was reported that the victim was out of the water, aboard a boat and that CPR was in progress.

The investigation concluded that just prior to the boat docking at their destination that two parties jumped off to swim. The victim slightly struggled to swim so another party on the boat threw him a flotation device. The victim was able to pull himself back onto the boat and the boat docked at their destination. Several parties got off the boat and went up to a camp while the victim and another party stayed on the boat. The victim that struggled in the water prior then had some type of medical event which prompted 911 to be called. The victim was evaluated by North Bay Fire Department EMS and signed off further treatment and transport.

The Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol was assisted by the New York State Police and the Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol.
